Veteran reggae artist Mikey General will join his longtime friend and music colleague Luciano at the forthcoming Rise Reggae concert in Barbados. Scheduled for Saturday, November 16th, the event will also feature performances by Gyptian, Tarrus Riley, and legendary saxophonist Dean Fraser.
Mikey General is a British-born Jamaica-based singer-songwriter who has given us hits like "Father God Almighty," "Sinners," "Deh Pon Dem," and many more. In the early 90s, he, along with Luciano, Shadowman, Jesse Jenda, Ragnum Poyser, and a young Sizzla Kalonji, were all recognized as members of the Exterminator Crew because they were recording for Phillip 'Fattis' Burrell’s Exterminator label.
Fast forward to 2024, and Mikey General, who is a committed Rastafarian, is still actively delivering faith-based music and socially conscious content. A couple of his more recent releases that have gained traction are "Redemption," a collaboration done with Luciano for Dub-Stuy Records, and "Up & At Them," voiced on the "Survive Riddim" for Blakkwuman22 Music.
