Pioneering UK dancehall artist Big Zeeks’ new single ‘Toppa Top’ featuring Frisco from Boy Better Know has just come out, and it’s got loads of radio love – a premiere by DJ Target, 1Xtra track of the day, with Big Zeeks and Frisco doing a freestyle on Rampage at the weekend.
The tune is about being the best, numero uno, toppa top. Inspired by Buju Banton’s ‘Top A Top’, it’s UK Dancehall at its hottest! I’d also like to give you a preview of Big Zeeks’ long-awaited debut album, ‘The Fresh Prince Of Harlesden.
It is the first body of work from any UK dancehall artist to come out in recent years, and it will be five years before we see the like again with such a small scene. With many of the scene’s artists coming from JA, Big Zeeks is definitely a pioneer of a small and beautifully formed UK scene and is actively pushing the culture forward.
The album is dripping with some belters, fresh guest appearances like Ding Dong, M1llionz, Chronic Law, Frisco, Shantiforce & The Rara, Diggy Ustle and Durrty Gooz, with cold riddims and masterful production from a variety of the hottest producers including Fanatix, IronRyanBeats, Angel, Dot Inc, CM Clipz, Pyrex Kenny, Dj Brewst, Faded, OneShotMusic, Footsie, JBJustBusiness and mixed and mastered by E.
