UK dancehall/r&b talent Alicai Harley unveils her debut EP The Red Room Intro (Yard Gyal Inna Britain), alongside a vibrant music video for EP track

A versatile, ten-track release, The Red Room Intro (Yard Gyal Inna Britain) is the Kingston-born, London-raised artist’s biggest and most complete body of work to date. It features singles ‘I Just Wanna Know’, the Ashanti-sampling r&b jam that has amassed over half a million Spotify streams and counting, the dancehall-inspired ‘Tek It To Dem’ as well as the upbeat ‘Rushing’, her collaboration with Afro-swing favourite Kojo Funds.
These tracks have already garnered an array of radio support from UK pirate, Internet outfits such as Riddm1 Radio, all way up to mainstream radio.
Further collaborations come in the form of the punchy ‘No Drama’ featuring MOBO Award winning British rapper Stefflon Don, and ‘No Rampin’, which features South London rapper Nadia Rose and Nigerian afrobeats artist Moelogo - with both tracks produced by Diztortion. Elsewhere, ‘Do That’ features the high-energy vocals of Kingston sound system selector Tony Matterhorn. Meanwhile Alicai has dropped a glamourous, Stepford Wives-style official video for album track ‘Put It On You’ to coincide with the LP release.
Contemplating on the release of her debut project, Alicai Harley muses, “The EP allowed me to showcase my versatility and growth as an artist. I loved being able to work alongside some of the amazing featured artists and producers on this project, which I feel brings so many vibes and flavours.”
Last year saw Alicai collaborate with a range of artists. Featuring on Dizzee Rascal’s acclaimed album E3 AF, she also featured on the official remix for M.I.A & Cadenza’s fire tune ‘Up Inna’ alongside rapper BEAM, which followed collabs with Afro-Dancehall superstar Stonebwoy (‘Understand’), dance music legend DJ Zinc (‘Bubble’) and respected producers Jim Ouma (‘Kids’).
Elsewhere, she made a number of incredible virtual performances surrounding Notting Hill Carnival weekend, at events hosted by BBC Radio 1Xtra and Island Records.
Cementing her status as one of the most exciting acts in British music, The Red Room Intro (Yard Gyal Inna Britain) sees Alicai Harley reach her potential while staying true to her unique trademark sound.
